Apollo 11 40th Anniversary

Coming Soon on LLH.com

I chose the 40th anniversary of the Apollo 11 landing as the day to launch this blog, with plenty of fancy plans on how I was going to have it all ready to go with plenty to see and do…

… Alas, actual work got in the way, though I did manage to write the full mission overviews for all of the Apollo programmes (and a brief touch on Mercury and Gemini) up to Apollo 11 in time. I’ll be continuing this soon with the Apollo 12 details, and am very much looking forward to entering the world of Bean and Conrad for their full-up mission. You can read all of the background information on the missions (up to 11) by clicking here.

In the mean time, here’s a brief overview of what you can expect to see at LLH.com over the coming weeks:

  • I’ll be starting the debunking of the hoax conspiracy with the photograph theories. This includes nonsense about misplaced crosshairs and answering the “why can’t I see the stars?” question.
  • Completely by accident, I’ve recently purchased the autobiographies for the Apollo 11 crew (links on the left). There will be reviews and details about those books going up as soon as I’ve read them.
  • I’ll also be reviewing and profiling some of the books I’ve already read, which include Pete Conrad’s biography Rocketman and Gene Kranz’s Failure Is Not An Option.
  • With the anniversary comes the media interest, and I’ll be posting up lists of where and when you can watch documentaries on the landings (UK only) as well as some of the more interesting articles.

Hope to see you here!
