While it might be possible to make it visible to a large telescope, that would not be useful or impressive. The amount of light it would have to put out to be visible to the naked eye would have to be incredibly huge. Nah. costly, pointless and dangerous. They would have had to have been insane to even consider it. This is an odd one.
