After allowing Apollo 10 to fly with craft named Charlie Brown and Snoopy, NASA clearly felt that Haystack and Snowcone were a step too far on Apollo 11. Thus we were spared “The Snowcone  has landed!”.

Trivia: Wally Schirra – Multi-Program Astronaut

TRIVIA >> Wally Schirra was the only astronaut to fly all three programs, on Mercury 8, Gemini 6A and Apollo 7. Gus Grissom was due to match this before he was killed in training for Apollo 1.
